has been bird watching and studying birds since age 9 and kayaking since
age 14. He is an expert birder, sea
kayaker, artist, author, poet, athlete, marathon cross country skier,
scholar of bird use in English literature and the artistry of knot tying,
and former British Royal Marine Commando. He will be leading
unique custom birdwatching tour in Southeast Alaska aboard the yacht and
sea kayak mothership Ursa Major. We will be visiting premier birdwatching
locations both by kayak and short walks. These trips will share the
wonders of the Arctic migration of birds along this flyway, discussing the
intricacies of their life and activities as well as their role in
literature and culture. Michael is a world's expert on
the use of birds and bird allusion in Shakespeare, Chaucer, Walt Whitman
and Dante. Get the opportunity to see these
